What is mobile phlebotomy?
Mobile phlebotomy is a healthcare service where a certified phlebotomist travels to your home, office, long-term care facility, or any location you choose to collect blood samples or other specimens. Instead of driving to a hospital, lab, or patient service center, the lab comes to you.
The phlebotomist arrives with all necessary supplies — needles, tubes, biohazard transport bags, and collection kits — performs the draw, and transports specimens to a certified laboratory for processing. Results typically go directly to your ordering physician.
Mobile phlebotomy is used for routine blood panels, diagnostic testing, chronic disease monitoring, pre-employment screenings, clinical trial sample collection, and more. It is performed by individuals with formal phlebotomy training and, in most states, a recognized certification such as CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) or PBT (Phlebotomy Technician).
