🔬Lab & Specimen Handling

Can samples be refrigerated?

Yes. Providers transport refrigerated specimens using coolers with ice packs for short-duration transport when needed.

Refrigerated transport (2–8°C) is appropriate for most routine serum and plasma specimens, PSA, TSH, and many specialty panels. Providers use validated cold packs or gel packs in insulated transport bags to maintain temperature during transit to shipping facilities or drop-off locations.
