What if a patient is not fasting?

Non-fasting status must be disclosed at collection. Providers note it on the requisition so the lab can flag results accordingly. Some tests may need to be rescheduled.

Tests most affected by non-fasting status include fasting glucose, lipid panels (LDL calculation), insulin, and triglycerides. For tests that do not require fasting, the draw can proceed without any issue.
