🔬Lab & Specimen Handling

Can providers reject unsafe orders?

Yes. Providers have the right to decline orders that are unclear, unsafe, or outside their scope of practice.

Providers may decline if a lab order is missing critical information (patient ID, tube requirements), if the requested draw volume is unsafe for the patient, or if the collection requires techniques outside their certification level. Providers can message the ordering party through the platform to clarify before declining.
